Commissioned by the Cervantes Institute New York

Amster Yard - Cervantes Insitute New York - June 6, 2025

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of Amster Yard, artists Laia Cabrera and Isabelle Duverger present an immersive video installation that transforms the garden walls into a living canvas. Blending animation, archival material, and symbolic imagery inspired by Spanish cultural landmarks and artistic heritage, the piece offers a poetic reimagining of the courtyard through time. It reflects on the visionary design of James Amster and Elsie de Wolfe, while honoring the vibrant life and diverse cultural programming that the Instituto Cervantes has brought to this historic space. Through evocative visual storytelling, the installation invites visitors to experience Amster Yard as a site where architecture, memory, and imagination converge.
